INTERVIEW: CALVA LOUISE

We sat down with the absurdly talented Calva Louise for another one of those things we like to call an 'interview'. Catch them on tour with Spring King right now!

You're currently on tour with Spring King, what are you learning from playing shows every night with those guys?
Spring King are the nicest and friendliest guys! They're so calm off stage but when they come on stage they are bursting with energy! It's amazing how chilled and professional they are! They give us a lot of helpful advice after every show too because they always catch our set! They've been giving us the perfect example of how a band should be on tour, professional and calm but always very efficient.

You've played a couple of This Feeling shows, how did they go and how important are This Feeling for new bands?
They've been really nice to us, giving us loads of opportunities to play in great venues and playing with amazing bands. I think This Feeling is really helping new bands because they make great connections and create a sort of community where everybody can support each other.

Your sound is very diverse, do you like to use an eclectic mix of influences when creating your music in order to stand out?
Yes definitely! We all come from different countries so we use the different influences of where we grew up and blend them together! I love mixing my love for South American alternative music and also French alternative rock with British music.

Interesting name, where's it come from?
It comes from the Spanish version of the absurd play, The Bald Soprano by Eugene Ionesco. In Spanish the title is "La Cantante Calva" and as I think we are living in a absurd world, we named our band The Bald Louise.

What's next for Calva Louise, apart from going straight to the top?
We're finally recording more tunes! And we'll be doing a bit of touring around England and Scotland too!
